Everything you need to know about planning your wedding music with FIONN.

From choosing the perfect ceremony songs to planning entertainment for your drinks reception, wedding breakfast or evening celebrations, I've answered some of the questions couples most often ask.

Every wedding is different, so if there's something you'd like to know that isn't covered here, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Booking & Payments

Planning your wedding music should be straightforward. Here's everything you need to know about securing your date, choosing your entertainment and finalising the details.

How do I book FIONN for my wedding?

Simply get in touch with your wedding date, venue and the parts of your day you'd like live music for. I'll confirm my availability and provide a personalised quotation.

A 20% deposit secures your date, with the remaining balance due 4–6 weeks before your wedding, as specified in your booking agreement.

How far in advance should I book a wedding singer?

I recommend getting in touch as soon as your date and venue are confirmed, particularly for popular summer weekends.

However, I can sometimes accommodate last-minute bookings, so it's always worth enquiring.

Can we create our own wedding music package?

Absolutely! My Wedding Collections offer some of the most popular combinations of services, but I'm always happy to create a completely bespoke booking.

Whether you'd like ceremony music, a drinks reception, wedding breakfast entertainment, your first dance or several parts of the day, we can create something to suit your plans.

When do we need to confirm our wedding music?

All song choices must be confirmed no later than four weeks before your wedding.

If you'd like a custom musical arrangement, please request this when booking or ideally at least eight weeks before your wedding, allowing time to write, arrange and produce your accompaniment.

Can we make changes to our booking?

If your plans change, please get in touch as soon as possible. I'll always do my best to accommodate adjustments, subject to availability and the terms of your booking agreement.

Wedding Songs & Music Choices

Your wedding music should reflect your personalities and the atmosphere you'd love to create. From meaningful ceremony songs to relaxed background music and lively celebrations, I'll help you find the right soundtrack for every moment.

Can we choose our own wedding ceremony songs?

Of course! For your ceremony, you can choose the songs that mean the most to you, whether they're already in my repertoire or something completely new.

I'm happy to learn your chosen songs, source suitable accompaniments or create bespoke arrangements where required.

For religious ceremonies, music choices must also meet the requirements of your church or officiant.

Can you learn a song that isn't on your repertoire list?

Absolutely! My repertoire list is only a selection of the many songs I know and perform.

The songs listed are generally ones I've performed before and already have accompaniments for, but I know many more.

For ceremonies, first dances and other special moments, I'm happy to learn something new.

Can you create a custom arrangement of our favourite song?

Yes! I love creating personalised versions of songs, whether that's transforming an upbeat favourite into a beautiful acoustic ballad or creating a fuller piano or orchestral arrangement.

I play piano and guitar when developing arrangements and use live-recorded instruments alongside professional music production software to create high-quality accompaniments.

Custom arrangements are available for an additional fee and should ideally be requested at least eight weeks before your wedding.

Can you sing our first dance song live?

Absolutely! Your first dance is one of the most personal moments of your wedding day.

You can choose your favourite song, even if it isn't on my repertoire list. I can learn it especially for you or create a bespoke arrangement to suit the moment.

Can we choose every song for our drinks reception or wedding breakfast?

You're very welcome to choose a few favourite songs from my song list, artists or musical styles, but I generally recommend leaving the full setlist to me.

With over 20 years of experience performing at weddings and events, I've learned how important it is to read the room and adapt the music as the celebration unfolds.

A completely fixed playlist can limit that flexibility. What sounds perfect on paper might not suit the atmosphere, venue acoustics or how your guests are feeling on the day.

I'll use your preferences to guide the music while selecting songs that work beautifully for the occasion.

What music works best for a wedding drinks reception?

That depends entirely on the atmosphere you'd like to create.

You might prefer relaxed acoustic favourites, jazz and swing, upbeat singalong classics or a mixture of styles.

I can begin with gentle background music while guests enjoy drinks and photographs, then gradually build the energy as the celebration develops.

What music works best during a wedding breakfast?

For most wedding breakfasts, I recommend beginning with relaxed music that allows guests to enjoy their meal and conversation.

The size of the room, ceiling height and acoustics all influence what works best. A set of powerful, upbeat songs can sometimes feel overwhelming in a smaller dining space.

A lovely approach is to start with acoustic favourites or mellow classics, gradually building the atmosphere towards dessert.

Wedding Ceremonies & Special Locations

From traditional church ceremonies and elegant hotel weddings to intimate elopements in beautiful Scottish locations, I can provide music tailored to your ceremony, venue and personal choices.

Do you sing at Catholic wedding ceremonies in Scotland?

Yes. As a classically trained vocalist, I have experience performing music for Catholic wedding ceremonies and Nuptial Masses.

This can include processional music, hymns, the Responsorial Psalm, Gospel Acclamation, Offertory, Communion, Mass settings, signing of the register and recessional.

I'll work with you to select music appropriate to your ceremony and your church's requirements.

Can you sing at civil, humanist and religious wedding ceremonies?

Yes! I perform at religious, civil and humanist wedding ceremonies, as well as other personalised celebrations.

Music can be tailored to your ceremony, provided it meets any requirements set by your officiant or venue.

Can you sing at our church and then travel to our wedding reception venue?

Absolutely! Ceremony and drinks reception bookings are among my most popular combinations.

I'm very experienced in moving between churches, chapels, hotels and other wedding venues, carefully planning equipment and travel so that I'm usually ready to perform again before your guests arrive.

Can you sing at an elopement or intimate wedding in Scotland?

Absolutely! Whether you're exchanging vows on a secluded beach, in the Scottish Highlands, at a countryside venue or somewhere completely personal to you, I'd love to provide the music.

I offer live singing for elopements, micro weddings, intimate ceremonies, proposals and vow renewals.

My portable, battery-powered equipment makes it possible to perform in many locations without mains electricity, provided the weather and access conditions are suitable.

Can you perform at outdoor weddings or unusual locations?

Yes! I can perform at outdoor ceremonies, garden weddings, remote locations and other unusual settings.

I have a fully battery-powered PA system for locations without mains power, as well as a lightweight shoulder-worn speaker for very intimate gatherings.

Outdoor performances are strictly weather-dependent. My sound equipment cannot be exposed to rain, including light rain or conditions where rain is threatening.

If there is a risk of the equipment getting wet, I cannot perform with it outdoors. For larger outdoor bookings, a suitable covered performance area and agreed indoor alternative are strongly recommended.

Please discuss your plans with me in advance so I can advise on the most appropriate setup.

Equipment & Performance Options

Whether you're planning an intimate ceremony or a larger celebration, I'll provide a professional sound setup suited to your venue. There are also several ways to enjoy live music, from solo vocals to live instrumental accompaniment and ensemble performances.

Do you provide your own sound equipment?

Yes. I provide all my own professional sound equipment, including a beautiful, high-quality white PA system.

It can be configured as a single or dual-speaker setup, particularly useful for larger rooms or drinks receptions extending between indoor and outdoor areas.

I also have a fully battery-powered PA system, allowing me to perform where mains electricity isn't available.

Please let me know about your venue, performance spaces and power availability in advance so I can bring the correct equipment.

Can you sing without access to mains electricity?

Yes! My battery-powered PA system allows me to perform in suitable locations without access to mains power.

For very small gatherings, I also have a compact shoulder-worn speaker that's ideal for intimate ceremonies, elopements, proposals, vow renewals and some roaming performances.

This isn't a full PA system and is best suited to a couple and a small group of guests rather than larger gatherings.

Can you provide roaming wedding entertainment?

For intimate settings, I can use my lightweight, shoulder-worn speaker to sing while moving around or performing away from a fixed PA setup.

This can work particularly well for small celebrations or informal performances, although suitability will depend on the venue, number of guests and atmosphere you'd like.

Do you have PAT-tested equipment and public liability insurance?

Yes. My electrical equipment is PAT tested, and I hold Public Liability Insurance through the Musicians' Union.

I can provide the relevant documentation to your venue if required.

Do you sing with backing tracks or live musicians?

Both options are available.

FIONN Signature features my live vocals with professionally produced accompaniments.

FIONN Live  pairs my vocals with a professional pianist, guitarist or organist.

FIONN Ensemble combines vocals, piano and strings for a richer, fuller sound, particularly beautiful in churches, cathedrals and grand wedding venues.

Popular ensemble combinations include singer, piano and violin, or singer, piano and two violins.

Do you play piano or guitar yourself?

Yes, although I generally prefer to focus entirely on my vocal performance or perform alongside one of my professional instrumentalists.

I regularly use piano and guitar when writing bespoke arrangements and creating personalised versions of songs.

How long do you sing for during a wedding?

This depends on the services you've booked.

Drinks receptions and wedding breakfasts typically include around 90 minutes of live music, while evening turnaround performances generally last 60–90 minutes.

Ceremony music is planned around the structure of your service, and longer bookings may include appropriate breaks with background music.

Wedding Entertainment & Special Performances

Looking for something beyond traditional wedding music? From interactive Music & Magic to powerful featured vocal shows, there are plenty of ways to add something memorable to your celebrations.

What is Music & Magic wedding entertainment?

Music & Magic combines my live singing with close-up magic performed by my husband, Stephen.

While I provide the musical atmosphere, Stephen entertains your guests with engaging, interactive magic.

We've worked together for many years and can tailor our entertainment to drinks receptions, wedding breakfasts and other parts of your day.

Stephen can also provide Master of Ceremonies services where required.

What are The Power Sets?

The Power Sets are 30–40-minute featured vocal shows designed to bring an exciting musical highlight to your wedding.

Choose from The Power Ballads, Rock Power or Ibiza Power, each featuring iconic songs arranged into a seamless, professionally mixed performance.

They're particularly suited to a lively dessert finale, wedding breakfast entertainment or a special moment during your evening celebrations.

Can we choose the songs in The Power Sets?

The Power Sets are fixed shows, with songs carefully selected and expertly mixed by a professional DJ.

Because the music is designed to flow seamlessly, the individual songs and running order cannot be changed.

If you'd prefer a personalised selection of songs, I'm happy to discuss alternative entertainment options.

Can you sing for our evening reception and first dance?

Yes! I offer live first dance performances, evening turnaround entertainment and evening singing packages.

Whether you'd like relaxed music as evening guests arrive or a livelier celebration, we can discuss the most suitable option for your plans.

Travel, Venues & Practical Arrangements

I regularly perform at weddings throughout Scotland and take care to plan the practical details in advance. From travel between venues to equipment access and timings, here's what you need to know.

Do you travel throughout Scotland for weddings?

Yes! I'm based in Fife and perform at wedding venues throughout Scotland.

Venues more than one hour's journey from my home may incur an additional travel fee, calculated according to distance and travelling time.

For weddings requiring more than two hours' travel each way, I accept bookings for combined services rather than individual parts of the day, such as ceremony-only bookings.

Are there additional travel or parking charges?

Additional costs may apply for paid parking, restricted vehicle access or difficult loading arrangements, particularly at some city-centre venues.

These will be discussed when preparing your quotation so you know what to expect.

How much time do you need to set up?

Setup times depend on the equipment and performance arrangements, but I always allow sufficient time to prepare and soundcheck before your performance begins.

If I'm singing at multiple locations during your wedding, I'll plan the transitions carefully in advance.

Can you work with our wedding venue and other suppliers?

Of course! I'm happy to coordinate with your wedding venue, planner, celebrant and other suppliers to ensure the music fits smoothly into your day.

This is particularly useful when arranging ceremony music, moving between venues, planning your first dance or timing a featured performance.

Still Have Questions?

Every wedding is unique, and I'm always happy to discuss your ideas.

Whether you're planning an intimate Scottish elopement, a traditional church ceremony or a full day of live entertainment, I'd love to hear what you have in mind.
