Picture this: you’ve just said “I do,” and now you’re off with your new husband or wife to have your photos taken. Meanwhile, your guests are milling around with a drink in hand… but what’s the vibe?
The drinks reception can be a tricky one. Some guests may not know each other, others are unsure where to stand, or feel like they’re just… waiting. This is where having a live singer makes all the difference.
As a wedding singer, I love this part of the day. I get to create a beautiful, relaxed atmosphere that puts everyone at ease. No tinny music from a phone plugged into a speaker—just live vocals, high-quality sound, and songs that fit the moment.
I tailor each set to suit the vibe. If it’s warm and sunny, maybe some feel-good acoustic hits. If people are chatting quietly, something soft and romantic. If the energy starts to pick up—great! I’ll take it up a notch with some crowd-pleasers.
I control the sound levels (so it’s never too loud or too quiet), and if anyone wants to request a song—I’ll do my best to include it. Sometimes those spontaneous moments are the most memorable!
Having a live singer during your drinks reception helps fill that quiet gap in the day, creates a beautiful backdrop for conversation and connection, and leaves your guests smiling, relaxed, and talking about “that amazing singer” for the rest of the evening.
